Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Begin. By creating an account you agree to them.

1. What the service does

Begin turns a prompt or a URL into a working product. Describe what you want, or paste a domain to reproduce, and we fetch what is needed, generate the code, and give you a preview you can then change in plain language. The same brief can be built for four targets: a website, an iOS app, an Android app or a Chrome extension.

Everything we fetch comes from pages that are publicly visible to anyone without signing in. We do not log into anyone’s account to do it, we do not ask you for someone else’s credentials, and we could not use them if you offered.

The generated code is yours. You may run it, host it, change it, sell what you build with it, and take it elsewhere; we claim no ownership of your projects.

2. Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account, including builds started by anyone you invite into your workspace. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.

3. What you may clone, and acceptable use

You must own the source you point Begin at, or otherwise have the right to copy it. Begin is a build tool, not a licence. Reproducing a page does not give you rights to the brand, logo, photography, trademarks or text on it, and you — not us — are responsible for what you choose to clone and for what you then publish.

What the product does to reduce the overlap: the copy in a build is rewritten rather than lifted, and the imagery is generated rather than downloaded. What that does not do is clear a trademark or a distinctive trade dress, and it is not legal advice about your particular use.

You must not use Begin to:

  • reproduce a site you have no rights to and publish it as your own, or pass a build off as somebody else’s product;
  • impersonate a person, business or public body, or build a page designed to deceive people about who they are dealing with;
  • build phishing pages, fake stores, fake login screens, or anything whose purpose is to collect credentials or payments under false pretences;
  • generate malware, credential harvesters, scrapers aimed at defeating a site’s access controls, or code intended to attack a system;
  • build sexual content involving minors, content that incites violence, or content unlawful where you or your users are;
  • resell access to Begin, share one account across unrelated customers, or work around the credit meter or rate limits;
  • do anything unlawful, or anything that breaks a third party’s own rules.

We may suspend or close an account that does, and we will say why. Where the problem is a single project we will normally remove that project rather than the account.

4. Plans, credits and billing

Begin is priced in credits. A credit is one unit of build work: starting a project costs 5 credits and every change you ask for afterwards costs 1. Reading, browsing and downloading your own code cost nothing.

  • Pro is $49 a month or $490 a year, and Business is $99 a month or $990 a year. A yearly plan is charged once, up front, and is ten times the monthly price — two months free.
  • Both plans include 100 credits a month. Unused credits roll into the next month while the subscription is live; they are not cash and are not refundable on their own.
  • A new account is granted 5 free credits — enough for one first build. There is no free tier beyond that.
  • A failed build is refunded automatically. If our side could not produce what you asked for, the credits go back; you are not charged for something you did not receive.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel at any time from inside the product; your plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for. We do not pro-rate part periods, but if something went genuinely wrong, write to us and we will sort it out.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe. Card details go to Stripe directly and never reach our servers.

5. What we do not promise

A clone is an interpretation, not a copy. We reproduce structure, layout and design tokens, and we rewrite the copy and generate the imagery. The result will differ from the source, sometimes deliberately and sometimes because a page used something we could not read.

Generated code needs review before it ships. It is a starting point produced by a model. Test it, read it, and take responsibility for what you publish — particularly anything that handles payments, personal data or authentication.

We depend on services we do not control. Model providers, hosting and the sites you ask us to fetch can all change, rate-limit us, or go down without notice. That can slow or fail a build.

Publishing and app-store distribution are not included yet. Nothing in these terms is a commitment to a date for any feature that is not in the product today.

The service is provided “as is”. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

6. Your content and ours

You keep everything you own: your prompts, your projects and the code we generate for you. You grant us only the permission we need to run the service — to store your content, process it through our model providers, and show it back to you and your workspace. We do not train models on it. How long we keep it, and how to have it deleted, is in the Privacy Policy.

The Begin product, its name and its interface remain ours. Nothing here transfers them to you.

7. Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss arising from code you published or from a rights claim over something you chose to clone.

8. Changes and termination

We may change these terms; material changes will be emailed to you before they take effect, and continuing to use the service means accepting them. You may close your account at any time. We may close yours for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, with notice where it is possible to give it.
